Terms & Conditions

Last updated 1 September 2026

These terms apply when you enquire about, book or attend a course at Vignette Spark Photography School, 14 Silver Lane, Bermondsey, London SE1 4QT. Please read them before paying a deposit.

1. Enquiries and bookings

Submitting the enquiry form does not create a booking and does not hold a place. We reply within two working days with availability. A place is confirmed only once we have issued a written confirmation and received your deposit.

You must be 18 or over to book. Students aged 16–17 may attend with written consent from a parent or guardian and are not permitted to use darkroom chemistry unsupervised.

2. Fees and payment

Course fees are shown on the course listings and include tuition, loan equipment, studio access for the duration of the course, darkroom chemistry and paper where applicable.

  • A £100 deposit secures your place and is deducted from the total fee.
  • The balance is due 14 days before the first session.
  • Courses over £500 may be paid in two equal instalments by arrangement, the second due by the midpoint of the course.
  • Places may be released if the balance is unpaid by the start date.

3. Cancellations, transfers and refunds

You have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of booking and receive a full refund, unless the course has already started at your request.

  • More than 28 days before the start: full refund, less a £25 administration fee.
  • 15–28 days before the start: 50% refund, or a free transfer to a later term.
  • 14 days or fewer, or after the course has started: no refund.
  • One free transfer per booking is available up to 15 days before the start date, subject to availability.

If we cancel or reschedule a course, you may take a full refund or a transfer to the next available course. We are not responsible for travel or accommodation costs.

4. Missed sessions

Individual missed sessions cannot be refunded, but tutors provide notes and, where the timetable allows, you may attend the equivalent session on another cohort.

5. Equipment and studio conduct

Loan equipment remains our property and must be returned at the end of each session. You are responsible for loss or damage caused by negligence, up to the replacement cost of the item.

Darkroom and lighting safety instructions must be followed at all times. We may end a student's participation without refund for behaviour that endangers others, for harassment, or for attending under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

6. Models, consent and your images

You keep full copyright in the photographs you make on our courses. By attending you grant us a non-exclusive licence to show your coursework in class critiques and, with your separate written permission, in student exhibitions and on our website.

Photographs of models booked by the school may be used for your portfolio and personal website only. Commercial use, stock licensing and resale require the model's written release. Photography of other students requires their consent.

7. Liability

We maintain public liability insurance. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise our liability in respect of a booking is limited to the fees you have paid for that course. Personal equipment is brought on site at your own risk.

8. Complaints

Please raise any concern with your tutor first, or email hello@vignettesparkschool.co.uk. We acknowledge complaints within five working days and aim to resolve them within twenty.

9. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the version in force when you book is the version that applies to your booking. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.

How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. Questions about these terms? Call +44 20 7946 1089 or send an enquiry.
